In the arguably unsustainable modern world in which we live many simplistic morals have been dismissed and replaced by more materialistic aspirations. The exhibition allowed me to see how man kind has become very selfish in the way in which we live, and how we may one day become responsible for the destruction of our own society.
One of the art pieces in there was a sculpture showing the hierarchy in society. At the bottom of the sculpture was the word 'optimism', in the middle the word 'subordinate', and at the top a one eyed man. I gained from this that it was supposed to be showing how through society corruption evolves as power is gained. However i believe the one eyed man represented the instillation of karma throughout society.
Social hierarchy.
This is my take on the sculpture representing the 'social hierarchy'. I like the simplicity and precision of this drawing created through linear qualities. Although I do think adding more layers to it may have made it more interesting.
Placebo.
I drew this from the design museum for the pure fact that I found it thought provoking. I think it is representational of all the things we are lead to believe in life which become regardless as to whether they are true or not due to the 'placebo effect'.
Destruction.
There was a drawing in the museum which showed the collapse of buildings. I decided to recreate this in a very linear way using only my ruler to make any marks. I like how I have combined abstraction and actual physicality. However I think this needed to be gone over with a fine liner as it does not stand out enough.
Alien.
This is a drawing from one of the sculptures in the museum. I think it is meant to be representational of how without communication the human race becomes alienated from one another.
Feedback.
Customer.
This I believe is representational of how other senses have to be used to try to re-teach the human race of how to read and write as they are now blind to the world.
Enterprise.
Finally this one says to me that this person is now using old similar methods of communication in order to try to form a new method of communication. I particularly liked this one as it shows how man-kind can develop and re-teach themselves something unforgotten. This proves mind over matter.
