Time Line

As one of the exercises given to us by our tutor we had to document our first week of going to Ravensbourne in the form of a time line. However we were instructed to be as unconventional as possible in doing so in order to create a work of art from it. I decided to make a cube with each side representing something which was new to me having lived in London for a week. The cube was relevant to me as I like the exact precision of its shape.

Time line 1.

The string side is supposed to represent our visit to the serpentine. I chose this as it was one of my favourite pieces of art i saw throughout the week. Also it allowed me to change the cube from a conventional shape to slightly abstract, which hopefully makes it look slightly more unorthodox.

Time line 2.

The reason I chose to draw Ravensbourne, as uninspiring as it may seem, is not just because its the new college we started, but is actually because I really enjoy the architecture behind it. I find the building fascinating due to the way in which it incorporates all different shapes in all different sizes.

Time line 3.

After this I drew Scape. This is the student accommodation I am staying in.  It again interests me due to the architecture. But I also like how the outside of the building seems to change in appearance when you walk around it. The angle at which I have drawn it as well is one of my preferred angles when taking photos.

Time line 4.

The london underground was something I was not overly familiar with before moving to London. However having moved here a week ago it is something I have been using on a regular basis and therefore have got very accustomed to. The infrastructure which has gone into it is something I find very captivating. I also like the way in which the trains, tunnels, and platforms all slot perfectly into one another.

  1. I was instantly impressed by the structure of your timeline. It was definitely something I wanted to look into. The detailed drawings are so intriguing, I'd like to view it in person to get a closer look.
I do think it looks a bit unfinished, I'm not sure but I feel like more should be done to it, however I love the simplicity of it!
